What matters in an Australian pool
- Saltwater compatibility. Almost all Aussie pools run on salt chlorination. Every cleaner below is rated for residential saltwater — confirm the salt concentration limit on the spec sheet.
- Coverage. For a tiled in-ground pool you want floor, walls and waterline — the waterline tile line shows scum fast in our climate.
- Battery life. Bigger pools need longer runtime. Undersize the battery and you'll be fishing out a stalled robot before it finishes.
- Where to buy. Amazon AU carries many of these, but the cordless specialists (Aiper, Beatbot, Mammotion, Dreame) often sell direct with local warranty support — check both.
Best overall — Beatbot AquaSense 2
The AquaSense 2 is the cordless cleaner to beat. Floor, walls and waterline in one cycle, the Ultra version covers pools up to around 320 m², and Beatbot backs it with a 3-year warranty. For a typical Australian in-ground pool that wants genuine hands-off cleaning, this is the one.
Premium-priced, and navigation isn't flawless — it can re-cover spots — but no other cordless unit feels this complete.
Best value — Aiper Scuba S1
For most Aussie pool owners, the Scuba S1 is the smart buy: reliable floor-and-wall cleaning, app control, and a runtime that suits most residential pools, at a price well under the premium tier.
Best budget — Aiper Scuba SE
If you've got a smaller or above-ground pool, the Scuba SE delivers proper cordless convenience for the lowest sensible spend. Floor-focused, simple, and easy to live with.
Best for big saltwater pools — Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max
For larger Aussie backyards, the Scuba X1 Pro Max is the sensible flagship — sold locally, rated for residential saltwater, and the only Aiper covering all four zones (floor, walls, waterline and surface) in one cycle. A generous debris basket handles gum leaves and pollen without choking mid-run.
A note on the legacy brands
You'll see Dolphin (Maytronics) recommended everywhere, and for good reason — they're the reliability benchmark. Dolphin makes cordless models too (the Liberty line), and they're a safe pick if you value a long track record over the newest features.
